The froyo hype has definitely taken Australia by storm. And now we're at that point in time when the sight of another froyo place makes us groan. I admit, I've been a froyo addict, and then it got to me how all the chains are pretty much selling the same thing - flavoured soft-serve consistency froyo that's fun to have once in a while. So one night, after having dinner at Newtown, I took my friends down to Mooberry Real Frozen Yoghurt and Dessert Bar. I've passed this place a few times, after visiting a few eateries at Newtown in the past few months, and so that night I finally got a chance to eat there.
As soon as you step in, you're greeted by vibrant decor and upbeat music, the cosy joint being filled with customers who come in for that evening froyo hit, or to catch up with friends over some nice desserts.
Mooberry have a small range of lovely flavours including original, coconut, and pomegranate. And oh how lucky I was to get salted caramel as the lucky "flavour of the day", it is by far one of my most favourite flavours!

And those who are froyo addicts will completely relate to me when I say that I never ever buy the chocolatey toppings such as m&m's, flakes, choc chips, because after 5 minutes of eating, the froyo would melt into a puddle, and then all the colours on the m&m's would just drizzle down and mix to become a giant unappetizing black pool.
But after half an hour of eating Mooberry froyo, the froyo still hadn't melted into a pool yet. So I considered the yoghurt I usually eat at home (Chobani and Activia), and that yoghurt doesn't have a 5-minute melting threshold. Nor do any other yoghurts melt in 5 minutes.
It turns out that Mooberry uses a fresh supply of actual yoghurt everyday to make their froyo, rather than anything water-based, powder-based, or frozen and preserved. That explains that lovely creamy yoghurt feel, and one can tell from the taste that it is low in sugar, which is a bonus if you don't want to feel sickly sweet after finishing a cup of regular froyo. So now we know that they, "Mooberry Real Frozen Yoghurt", definitely live up to their name! :)

I admit that throughout the past few weeks, after my visit to Mooberry, I have not eaten any other froyo elsewhere since, and I do look forward to the next time I lunch out or dine at Newtown, because I'm definitely keen on returning and eating genuine froyo again! And I'm keen on trying their churros soon!
I've been composing this post for about 2 weeks now, and finally I had the chance to arrange a catch up with a good friend of mine, and we shared the coconut affogato (was definitely worth ordering again), and we also opted for churros!! :)

Baked, not fried. 10 minutes of waiting for it to be baked was well worth it. So while it's not super crunchy, it is still actually crunchy on the outside, and lovely and warm and soft on the inside. It's beautiful how healthifying desserts by a few steps still allows it to be so delicious and enjoyable. I'm a fan of both super hot and crunchy deepfried churros (but they burn the tongue quite easily), as well as a fan of these churros that have a crispy feel similar to that of a waffle, and a slightly fudgier and softer exterior - it allows the melted chocolate to complement it very well too.
And boy was that Belgian milk chocolate dip worth devouring.
All in all, the customer service here is amazing, with a wonderful team who have been at Mooberry since its inception around 8 months ago. The waitresses are incredible - they serve everyone wholeheartedly with smiles on their faces, and every dessert was presented so beautifully.
I must say, Mooberry's passion and dedication to the quality of food, their attention to detail and customer service, and their unique vibrant atmosphere definitely created an unforgettable experience for me and my friends indeed,
So, Mooberry isn't just another froyo joint; it is definitely a lovely dessert bar in its own right, and provides a fun, colourful and delicious experience :) I definitely look forward to coming back when I get the chance to visit Newtown again.
